Mine and Rikiya were awesome, most substories were fantastic, I loved the orphanage the first time around, Okinawa was a nice change of scenery and many little gameplay additions made Yakuza 3 feel truly next-gen at the time.

It's aged pretty poorly gameplay-wise, but its story and substories will always be among the best in the series.ģ was a joy to play.

I remember reading about it in a gaming magazine while it was still in development, bought it in its western release with my hard-earned teenager money and played the shit out of it without really getting what was going on (I barely spoke any English back then). I personally found the OST to be kinda disappointing - except for Bloodstained Philosophy which is the GOAT track -, probably the least good in the mainline titles.ġ will always have a special place in my heart. Aside from that, I loved the combat and gameplay in general. The closer I got to the end, the more bored I got by the villains. Also the best Yakuza soundtrack ever.Ģ would be exactly the same as 0 if it had aged a little better on the gameplay department.Ĥ was a breath of fresh air with its wonderful new characters, their stories and how unique they felt in combat.Ħ ended Kiryu's story in one of the best ways it could, but I can't help but feel like Kiryu had faced better, worthier adversaries in prior games.
#Yakuza kiwami majima everywhere ss rank series#
All in all given how the fandom gushes over Kiwami I expected it to be far better than it was for me.Ġ is the series at its absolute peak in every aspect. The finale totally falls apart for me with the sudden drop in introduction of a villain that is far less interesting than the one build up through Y0 history. + I feel like the things that work best to me main story wise are the things that play off the added Y0 connections. I even appreciated Majima everywhere far more than most of the original content(despite it getting annoying after a while). The most engaging things were added quest like pocket fighter returning for me. The original sidequest stuff totally lacks the punch and awesome humor of the more recent games have. And I still enjoyed it enough to do the super painful platinum requirements(it's my most painful plat for sure).īut I went away feeling that everything about this game is old and it only becomes more apparent seeing how things are contrasted with new added stuff. Y1 Kiwami = now I appreciate this game for what it started. I have a lot of problems with the game though if I consider the angle that this is supposedly Kiryu's sendoff but overall I was content with the experience.Ĥ. Now Yakuza has some really punchable villains but the way the climax of this game enraged me(in a good way where I just couldn't wait to stomp the antagonist) was a new high for me. But 100% all the other yakuza's I really appreciated this one being more lenient on completion aspects (as far as the plat is concerned) and the story really sucked me in. Y6 = now this surprised me from how people talked about it I expected it to be a lot worse that it turned out to be. + really it being the first contact with its brand of humor that also got me.ģ. Kiryu decimating 100+ men, Saejima fighting against a bear, so many sick moments. I was mostly drawn in by the larger than life antics. I was totally ok with not knowing everything about the characters and going back and seeing how their legends build up to the point where they are in 5 has been rewarding in its own way. Now a lot of people would probably feel that's pretty weird to jump in that late but it honestly didn't bother me. Y5 = this is the game that introduced me to the series and made me fall in love with it. The Y6 combat feel with styles would be sick.Ģ. I probably liked the gameplay the best in it as well although like all Yakuza games it has some heavy problems for the special challenge stuff + man playing Y6 if they just flesh out the moveset there I'd probably already heavily prefer that. Y0 = my absolute favorite, the time period, the vibes, the humor, the sidestories. I haven't played all of them yet but ranking only the ones I got the play it goes like this:ġ.
